Janice Shay, owner of Pinafore Press, is a book packager representing and producing illustrated books including lifestyle, garden, art, and gift books, as well as memoirs, cookbooks and children’s picture books.

 

Pinafore takes an idea from concept to printer-ready digital files, handling any and all production according to the publisher’s needs. Proposals, contract negotiation, editing, ghostwriting, art direction of photography and illustration, design, proofing, and file production are all within our wheelhouse.

 

Since 2007, Pinafore has produced more than 70 titles, and worked with both national, regional, and independent publishers, including Rizzoli, Chronicle Press, Monacelli Press, Clarion Books, Candlewick Press, Welcome Books, Lerner CarolRhoda, Pelican Publishing, NewSouth Books, Sourcebooks, Sky Horse Books, The University of Georgia Press, Trinity Press, and Telfair Museum Books.

 

Books produced by Pinafore Press have won numerous awards and received outstanding reviews from PublishersWeekly, Kirkus, The New York Times, the Library Journal, and Booklist. Our children’s book awards include the Jane Addams Peace award for Children’s Literature, the Jefferson Award, the Carter G. Woodson Book award,  the Georgia Book Council list, NY Public Library Best Children’s Books, and many others.
